British Sign Language: Beginners Part A

Can you fingerspell in British Sign Language? Would you like to continue learning some basic signs? Then this is the course for you!

In this 25-week course, sessions will cover simple but key aspects of the language and communication strategies for everyday situations including greetings, introducing yourself, food, drinks, directions and much more.

In this non-qualification course you will learn the language in an immersive way. The tutor will tailor the content to the needs of the group. Learners are expected to predominately practice basic fingerspelling and signs for everyday conversation. Learners are expected to revise and practise between sessions. This gives the tutor an opportunity to identify group weaknesses and to provide learners with personalised feedback to help them improve.

Learners are expected to know how to fingerspell but those with no knowledge of the language are also welcome. Ideally, learners joining this course would have completed our "Getting Started with British Sign Language" course or had done some introductory course or practice (e.g. Deaf Café, Commanding Hands YouTube Channel,...)
