Let's Get Digital

Do you own a smart device but feel unsure about accessing online services? This introductory course is designed to help you use your smartphone or tablet with confidence and ease. For all enquiries and for further information please contact our Project Lead Asyah Patel, 0116 454 4260.

This course will help you develop key digital skills and knowledge to: • create strong passwords • access the internet through Wi-Fi in public places safely • understand how to use QR codes • downloading and joining NHS services online eg GP surgeries, 111 Online • explore your interests and find social connections on-line • use local travel apps, timetables, and real-time updates for bus and train travel. • explore a range of local navigation tools to move around your city effectively

Delivered in small groups, this classroom based course is for beginners and those with low confidence, offering a supportive and hands-on learning experience. You will learn at your own level and pace with the help and support of an experienced tutor. You will have an Individual Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will chart your progress.

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you are expected to have basic entry level English reading, listening and comprehension skills. You will also need to bring your personal smart device to the session (SMART phone, tablet, laptop) fully charged. If you do not have one, you must tell us before joining the course.

You can progress onto further digital courses and other pathways that are suitable by the end of the three weeks. You can also get access to free impartial careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) through the careers service at Leicester Adult Education.
