This one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed to provide you with the essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies in the workplace. It is ideal for individuals who require basic first aid training to meet Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines. By the end of the course, you will be certified as an Emergency First Aider, valid for three years.

This course covers the following key aspects of emergency first aid: • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a first aider. • How to assess an incident and prioritise care. • Administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). • Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking. • Managing external bleeding. The knowledge and skills gained on this course will prepare you to act with confidence in a variety of workplace medical emergency scenarios.

This intensive one-day course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice to ensure you are prepared to handle real-life emergency situations. You will be assessed through two key methods: • A practical assessment of your CPR, AED, and recovery position techniques. • A short multiple-choice examination to test your understanding of first aid principles. Our experienced trainers will guide you through the material, ensuring you feel confident and competent by the end of the course.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to demonstrate practical skills in CPR and the recovery position for a minimum of 2 minutes each. This requires the ability to independently get down to floor level and remain there for the duration of the activity. Additionally, you should have English language skills that are at least equivalent to Level 1 or GCSE to fully engage with the course materials and complete the multiple-choice assessment at the end of the day. If you have dyslexia or another learning difficulty that could impact your ability to complete the course, please let us know at the time of enrolment so that appropriate support can be arranged.

Upon successful completion, you will be certified as an Emergency First Aider for three years. This qualification equips you to handle workplace emergencies within the scope of your training. If you wish to enhance your skills further, you may consider enrolling onto the three-day ‘First Aid at Work’ course for a higher level of certification. At the end of the three-year certification period, you will need to retake this course to remain qualified. Additionally, consider broadening your workplace health support skills by completing the Mental Health First Aid qualification. This complements emergency first aid training and helps promote a positive workplace environment.
