ESOL for Volunteering with the NHS

This course will help you get ready to work as a volunteer in a range of roles within the NHS. You will research volunteering opportunities, prepare employment personal statements and take part in mock interviews.

You will learn how to: Ask relevant questions to organisations offering voluntary work. In addition, you will learn key work related vocabulary associated with employment in the UK and learn how to create an effective personal statement detailing your key skills and abilities.

The course runs once a week and lasts 6 weeks. To successfully complete the course, you must arrive on time for each lesson, and attend 100% of the lessons. You will be expected to complete any homework given. You will learn to do the following things: • prepare a personal statement • complete different types of activities to help you apply for a volunteering position • motivate you to work harder and apply for voluntary and/or paid work

You need to have good reading skills and good understanding of English to complete the course. The course is open to everyone, not just ESOL learners. If you are studying ESOL you need to have a minimum ESOL Entry 3 qualification or currently studying ESOL Entry 3. It will give you the confidence to look for and to apply for future roles as a volunteer within the NHS.
